- hi !
- here is the point of view from a french user, who read much in this group
- to say following comments:
- - the amiga 2000 (like mine too) is not dead, depending on what you want
- to do with it
- for example i use it for:
- - programmation in c/c++ (more simple than programming under Windows!)
- - animation and pictures, as long as a films don't require high
- resolution and 24bit true colors
- - playing (most games are old or PD !)
-
- For other usages, i use an old 386 PC with Win3.1 and Word/Excel serie
-
- I think that i don't need any P166 for my personnal usage of a computer,
- and i think it's a waiste of money to buy now a pentium-base machine (i'm
- waiting for full development of RISC and PowerPC technology)
-
- In the case of your Amiga, i suggest a few upgrade (in the limits of your
- credit, of course, considering the price of new computer)
- Nevertheless, you should first buy a hard disc, i.e. a controller card
- (choose SCSI or Fast-Ide, you will re-use the disc for a future computer)
- and a disc with 540 Mo (a classical not-so-expensive type)
-
- If you have enough money, buy an accelerator card too (it's very
- efficient),and more memory (i bought an old 2630 card that does it well)
-
- Finally, you should find the new 1.3 OS with the new graphical chips, but
- i didn't (i use a version of 2.0 OS in RAM, because i have 7Mb memory)
-
- That's all, and enjoy with that computer (it is possible)
- If you need anything about amiga, just mail !
